Copenhagen is perfect for a weekend getaway if you’re situated somewhere in Europe. As with most Scandinavian countries, it’s not cheap! But you can spend your days either walking or cycling around, so at least you won’t spend much on ‘activities’ – just food and drink. For great street food head to Paper Island or Torvehallerne. The local dish to try is herring, traditionally seved with raw egg yolk! An acquired taste, perhaps… While you’re in town, don’t miss Copenhagen’s most famous sites – the Little Mermaid statue and Nyhavn (the colourful canal street you’ll easily recognise.) A visit to Tivoli amusement park is great fun for all ages – although, not open in winter. Christiania is a really unique ‘hippie’ neighbourhood where there’s plenty of street art, quirky shops and a constant waft of weed!
